Policies
ILLNESS
Students and family members will not be allowed in the studio if they have a fever, chills, stomach ache, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, or any other symptoms outlined by the CDC. If a student does not feel well in class, they will be removed from the classroom, their parents will be called and they will need to be picked up immediately. Students and families agree to follow all Covid-19 related rules and mandates as they change throughout the year. Participating in any activity holds a risk of illness. Families and dancers agree not to hold NVDA or any of its staff liable if Covid-19 or any other illness is contracted. Make up classes can be scheduled with staff if a student misses class due to illness.
Tuition -- I understand that all tuition and registration fees are non-refundable. Accounts more than 2 months overdue will result in a student being removed from class.
Contact -- I understand that during the instruction of dance class the occasion may arise that an instructor must have physical contact with my child to reposition arms, legs, feet, head, etc. in order to avoid injury.
Attendance -- Attendance is important for each student to improve and grow as a dancer. Many absences will result in the student being placed in a lower level class. Refunds will not be issued for missed classes. Please email if you will be absent from class. Missed classes must be made up during the current session. They can be made up during other classes of the same or lower level at the discretion of the instructor.
Snow Days -- I agree to keep my email address up to date. NVDA does not necessarily follow the public school snow days. In case of inclement weather an email will be sent. If classes are cancelled, make up classes will be scheduled.
Studio Rules
Parents and guardians will not be permitted to enter the classroom with their children, as it proves to be distracting to the students. However, we often leave the door open so that you can peak at your child’s progress.
We ask that dancers, parents and siblings drink only water while at NVDA. Please no coffee, milk, soda, sports drinks or juices of any kind. If a snack is necessary, we ask that you choose something like Goldfish or pretzels that will not cause damage to our space. Please no chewing gum in the building.
Students should arrive 5 minutes prior to their class time so that they can be ready at the class start time. Students may not enter class late or leave early without permission from their instructor. Please do not open the studio door if music is playing. Students should be picked up promptly at the end of their class time.
Remember that our parking lot and building are shared with other businesses. Please supervise your children and do not allow your children to play in the parking lot, hallways or enter other rooms within the building.
Students are expected to be respectful of the studios and waiting areas and responsible for its tidiness. Students are also expected to be respectful of their instructors and fellow students.
Myself and my child agree that we will not wander the halls and explore other areas of the building.
I agree to park in a marked parking spot (even while waiting to pick up my child). I agree that I will not stop in the fire lane.
Recital -- Nashoba Valley Dance Academy’s focus is technique. However, performing is a valuable part of a dancer’s education. Therefore, each year the students of Nashoba Valley Dance Academy will present a year-end performance. This is optional and students are not required to participate in the performance in order to remain in class. Participation in the performance requires additional fees (costume, rehearsal, performance, tickets). I agree that if my child chooses to participate in the recital that they will attend all required classes and rehearsals and I will pay all associated fees.
Dance Shoes -- Students are not permitted to wear their dance shoes outside. If a student is seen outside in their dance shoes they will not permitted in class. Street shoes may not be worn in the studio.
Liability -- Nashoba Valley Dance Academy, its faculty and the Fitzpatrick Collaborative are not liable for injury either in person or at home and do not assume responsibility for the loss or damage to personal property. Each student is responsible for informing the instructor of any physical limitations that may prevent full participation in class. Parents are responsible for creating a safe environment for dancing at home if dancer is attending a virtual/Zoom class.
