order to participate in Pointe class. Students must also maintain good
attendance in all of their classes in order to remain in Pointe class.
Pointe class students must have reached technical and
physical readiness in order to participate. They also must receive approval
from the Director in order to participate. Students usually begin Pointe work
at age 13 due to the ossification in our feet, to reduce injury, and assure
that they have had proper training.
Students are required to take their ballet technique class
in order to participate in Pre-Pointe.
Pre-Pointe will help prepare those ballet students for
Pointe. This class will focus on basic exercises that need to be mastered prior
to starting Pointe. This class will use Thera-bands, as it works to strengthen
the area of the leg, the feet, and turnout of the student to get closer to the
technical requirements needed to pursue Pointe work. It is not uncommon for
students to be in Pre-Pointe for more than one year.
